Well BC

Units [L³/T]

A well boundary condition applies a predefined extraction or injection to a single node or to a group of nodes. In order to setup a group of nodes along a well screen it is recommended to use the Multi-layer well BC.

Well boundary conditions are applied in cases where the injection/abstraction of water at a certain location is known. In most cases, this condition is used for pumping or injection wells. Sometimes, however, well boundary conditions are also applied to lateral inflow into a model, specifying the inflow node by node, or for other specific purposes.

For defining boundary conditions, inflows are considered as negative, outflows as positive. Thus a well boundary condition with a positive sign means a pumping well, negative signs are used for infiltration wells.
