DAC Records Selection

This dialog is brought up after choosing Save As from the File menu and selecting a file name and location, but only in case that this command was called from a full results (*.dac) file.

Two different operations can be done from here:

  • Create 2D DAC file using cross section
  • Remove selected time steps from dac file

The option of create a 2D DAC file based on a cross section is only supported for layered-based models.

The first option is only available if the results to be saved contain at least one 2D Surface Line.

Create 2D DAC file using cross section

With this option, results along a 2D Surface Line can be translated into a two-dimensional results file with quadrilateral meshing. On the one hand, this option can be used to create a new 2D cross-sectional model along this line. On the other hand, some very specific postprocessing steps may be easier to perform in a cross-sectional results file.

To save a 2D results file, one of the 2D Surface Lines in the model has to be selected from the results file. A Minimal allowed element length is applied be set to avoid extremely narrow finite elements in case that the line cuts off small portions of the original 3D finite elements.

Remove selected time steps from dac file

With this option, a new results file can be written that contains a reduced number of time steps results. Records moved to the right-hand side will not be contained in the new file. Records to drop can be moved from left to right via drag-and-drop, or by using the three tools to remove a number of records from the beginning, to remove every nth record, or to remove records at the end.
