Advanced Run Options: Uploading

When FePEST problems with the parallelization option enabled, together with slaves running on remote servers, a number of extra advanced options are available in the Run-dialogue, under the Run PEST check box.

Advanced run options for uploading

The first two options are concerned with security:

  • Encrypt FEM before uploading: It may not be desirable to upload an unprotected FEM file onto a server, where other users may be able to open it . This option ensures that the FEM can only be opened by FePEST. By default this option in not selected.

  • Delete uploaded files before run/after completion: Uploaded files are deleted when the run is completed and also when new runs are started.

The remaining options attempt to optimise the upload process:

  • Upload only modified files: FePEST will ask the server for the modification dates of the files which are to be uploaded. Only those files whose modification date differs will be uploaded. Please note, this option will have no effect if the Delete uploaded files before run/after completion is selected. The file creation options (Recreate the files required by PLPROC... & Recalculate the Jacobian matrix) should also be deselected, if available as when they are recreated they will be identified as being modified.

  • Compress files to a single archive before uploading: this option will add all files to a single, compressed, file before uploading. This may offer not only improved performance for problems with large files, but also when many smaller files are to be uploaded.
