Parameter Lookup Table

Parameter lookup tables allow the definition of named properties, e.g., material types, each representing a set of parameters, such as conductivity, drain- /fillable porosity, etc. When assigning a parameter, the property name can then be used instead of assigning a value.

By using this parameter table, the user could include all the conceptual selections (e.g., geological units), and assign their corresponding parameters efficiently. This way, the user can dedicate more time to the conceptual model and less to meshing. Material regions allow an easier update of existing models (e.g., re-meshing, re-assignment of parameters).

For more details to create the Lookup Table. Please refer to Tutorial Material Regions.

Save the Lookuptable in Supermesh file

Only when you saved the supermesh as XML Supermesh format, the definitions for Materials and Lookup table will also be saved.

Save Supermesh as XML type.

Data Assginment

The Lookup table supports constant value, as well as time-dependent value (time series for materials).

However, please note that Supermesh does not support Time-series manager or time-series. That means it is not possible to assign time series to supermesh level.

It is only possible:

+ When the FEFLOW mesh has been generated

+ When the Problem Class was defined as transient state

+ When the time series has been imported.

The assignment of time series in Parameter Lookup Table.

During the simulation FEFLOW will automatically handle the transient changes of Time-series. The dynamic results will also be saved in the DAC file.

Please note that for parameters such as Source/Sink(fluid) or In/Outflow on Top/Bottom, once you have assigned the Time-series in the Parameter Lookup Table, their transient properties in the Data panel must be left as default! You DO NOT need to right-click on it and "Make Transients" again. Otherwise, there will be a conflict.

No need to Make Tansient and create material Data Time Stages once Time Series have been assigned in the Parameter Lookup Table.

Post-processing of Parameter Lookup Table

The Parameter Lookup Table can be exported to XML format file:

Export Lookup Table.

Material regions are numbered by ID and Each parameter has a unique ID.

Meanwhile, behind the scenes, each FEFLOW material parameter (based on elements) has its own definition in the IFM programming interface. They are distinguished by a unique identification number. (Please refer to ifm constants )

Please note that Lookup Table currently only supports to export/import as XLM format.

At the moment, 3D supermesh is not supported. (December 2021)

Example:

Notice that the exported XML file does not contain information about the Units of the parameters. FELLOW exports all table values and saves them with the default internal unit to XML file.

Use Notepad++ to open a lookup table.
