Standard Streamlines
Standard Streamlines are trajectories of particles following the velocity vectors of the flow based on a steady-state flow field or the flow field at a specific time in transient simulations. Streamlines either end at a horizontal or vertical model boundary or in a part of the domain where the flow velocity is close to zero.
The steps necessary for displaying streamlines are described in the Particle Tracking Workflow.
-
Forward: Using the forward option, streamlines are started from the seeding points, following the flow field in positive flow direction (down-gradient).
-
Backward: Applying the backward option, streamlines are started from the seeding points, following the flow field in negative flow direction (up-gradient).
