File Menu

The File menu provides basic file operations:

 

Symbol Name Description
New Create a new model, starting with supermesh design. For definition of the working area, the Initial Domain Bounds dialog is opened automatically.
Open... Open an existing file (*.fem, *.dac, *.smh, *.dar, *.txt).
  Close Close current file.
  Open Path Open current working directory.
Save Save changes in current model.
  Save As... Save current supermesh, model or results file with a new file name. In case of a results (*.dac) file, this option is also used to save a new results file of reduced size by removing results of some time steps and to save a results two-dimensional results file along a Surface Line. The latter saving options are available through the DAC Records Selection dialog that is brought up after choosing the file name of the new results file.
  Revert Revert to previous version of the current *.fem or *.smh file (using the backup file stored by default, see options in the FEFLOW Global Settings).
  Edit Protection... Invokes the Password Protection dialog.
  Editor Mode... Input the password re-enables editing
  Import Selection Set Import of selection sets based on
  Import Location Set Import of *.xml file based location sets.
  Generate Point Set Open the random point generator.
  Export Export the settings file for the coupling between FEFLOW and MIKE 21FM.
  Load Logo Image... Load a logo image to be displayed in one or several View windows.
  Export Settings for All Views... Export the current view settings for all View windows to an *.xml file. To create new View windows from the exported view group settings, select the Window menu and New > Create Window (s) From Exported View (-Group) Settings.
Snapshot of Active View... Export a snapshot of the active View window as an image in *.bmp, *.png, *.jpg or *.tif format or copy the image to the clipboard. A resolution enhancement can be chosen to obtain high-resolution images, e.g., for poster plot. For the export of 3D stereoscopic images, additional options are available.
Export AVI from Active View... Export the animation set up in the Autopilot panel to a *.avi file or to a 3D stereoscopic movie (*.avi). After selecting the target file, a dialog box provides the opportunity to select one of the compression codecs installed on the operating system. Microsoft Video 1 compression is the safest choice if the videos are to be played from within Microsoft Power Point. If 3D stereoscopic movie export is selected, additional export settings are available.
  Recent FEM Problem files Open one of the recently used FEM Problem files (*.fem).
  Recent Full Simulation Record files Open one of the recently used Full Simulation Record files (*.dac).
  Recent Supermesh files Open one of the recently used Supermesh files (*.smh or *.smhx).
  Exit Exit FEFLOW.
